Pivoine, trained by Andrew Balding and ridden by Rob Hornby has won a thrilling John Smith's Diamond Jubilee Cup at York.

The five year old stormed home by a length to win a thrilling battle with Setting Sail, with What's the Story third.

It's the biggest day in the racing life of jockey Rob Hornby, who'se been attached to the winning yard all his career.

He spoke with MIke Vince.

A maximum field will go to post for the 60th running of Britains iconic handicaps, the John Smiths Cup at York on saturday.

It's the longest running commercial sponsorship in British Racing and York's Patron, His Royal Highness The Duke of York will be on the Knavesmire to help mark the Diamond Jubilee.

Mountain Angel, trained at Newmarket by Roger Varian goes to post as favourite, with David Egan, the 2017 Champion Apprentice taking the ride.

Jump Jockeys Nunthorpe - Paul Midgley Interview

19 jump jockeys, including Sam Twiston-Davies and Aidan Coleman who reached 1000 career successes earlier this month and Cheltenham heroine Bryony Frost will line up for the third running of the Jump Jockeys Nunthorpe Stakes at York on saturday.

The race is over the 5 furlong course used for York's flagship sprint in August, while the jockeys, used to marathon distances find themselves starting from stalls over the shortest distance used in British Racing.

Paul Midgley, based at Westow near York saddles 4 of the field. He also won the first running and has is much looking forward to this years race.
