York Racecourse has welcomed the extension of a series of feature sponsorships with Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai.

The leading supplier of equine supplies in its home territory will continue its link to three famous Group 2 contests, staged on the Knavesmire.

Both the Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Dante Stakes and the Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Middleton Stakes will be supported by the business founded by Mr Malih Al Basti, as the highlights of Thursday 16 May.

Building on a decade of involvement with York Racecourse, the Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Gimcrack Stakes will continue to be the juvenile feature of the Friday of the Ebor Festival, being the 23 August this year.

The role of sponsors in delivering prize money is considerable, with the fillies & mares race in May being boosted to £150,000; with the other two races retaining their record level of reward at £180,000 for the Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Dante and some £250,000 for Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Gimcrack.

A successful owner in his own right, the wider ranging agreement with Mr Al Basti, will also see the Owners & Trainers’ Club as well as other initiatives in support of participants in the sport, delivered under the Al Basti brand name.

Malih Al Basti said, “Our long-standing relationship with York Racecourse has contributed significantly to promoting recognition of our brand within the sport and beyond. I am delighted that we are able to continue our support for these three important races at two of British racing’s most exciting Festivals.”

Speaking about the good news, Chairman of York Racecourse, Bridget Guerin, said “Malih Al Basti has been a great supporter of York, so it is wonderful news that his support is set to continue. All three races have a rich heritage with many famous winners and memorable contests, they will continue to thrive under the strong partnership between Al Basti Equiworld and the team at York.”

Entries for both the Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Dante Stakes and the Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Middleton Stakes close at noon on Tuesday 2 April.
