York Racecourse is set to elevate its hospitality options for 2026 with a full refurbishment of the box floor of the Knavesmire Stand.
Already popular, the balconies offer a finishing post view of famous races over the eighteen-day season between May and October.
Before the action returns on Wednesday 13 May, the fourth floor will benefit from a stylish interior redesign that also offers practical benefits.
Comprising of 900 sq. metres over a flexible 11 private suites that can accommodate up to 280 racegoers, plans include bespoke joinery, integrated supersize 86” smart televisions, enhanced lighting and improved acoustics.
Practical elements such as integrated cloakrooms, mobile phone charging, improved bar service, and personalised signage have all been incorporated.
New furniture will add to the contemporary feel of a destination that was recognised as Racecourse of the Year in 2024, the same season that it staged the Longines World’s Best Race.
A similar upgrade is also underway for three hospitality boxes in the Melrose Stand, with the traditional viewing boxes in the Gimcrack Stand also benefiting from new joinery and decoration.
Those booking these luxury spaces will have a wide choice of menus, sourced locally and cooked in house, whether that it is a buffet menu that could feature mini-Yorkshire puddings or a served fillet of Yorkshire beef.
Award-winning Yorkshire commercial interior design specialist Design Tonic, has been appointed to design and deliver the refurbishment, with the assistance of the racecourse facilities team.
