York Racecourse is proud to share further details of an exciting new addition to the raceday of Saturday 27th June, as renowned Michelin-starred Yorkshire chef Tommy Banks brings Roots to York Races.
Speaking about the collaboration, Tommy Banks said:
“It’s really about bringing a taste of what we do into a completely different setting, without losing that special sense of place we always draw from. The menu features some of our favourite dishes and ingredients — things that feel very much rooted in Yorkshire.”
This exclusive new dining and viewing experience invites guests to enjoy an elevated day at the races, combining world-class food with a fine view of some of the best British racing.
At the heart of the experience is a beautifully curated five-course menu, showcasing both provenance and creativity. Guests can expect dishes that celebrate the very best of Yorkshire’s seasonal produce from indulgent bites such as aged beef on toast with shallot and gherkin, to standout mains like Herdwick lamb, where the flavours of the landscape are brought vividly to the plate. Each dish reflects a careful balance of familiarity and innovation, delivering a distinctly modern Yorkshire dining experience.
Guests will enjoy a full hospitality experience, beginning with elegant canapés and a glass of Lanson Champagne on arrival, followed by the five-course lunch and a luxurious Yorkshire inspired afternoon tea. To round off the day, a signature mini pie will be provided to enjoy as the racing and live music from Becky Hill continues into the evening.
Each course will be expertly paired with a selection of Champagnes from Maison Lanson, offering a rare opportunity to sample a range of cuvées from the flagship Le Black Création to the exceptional Le Vintage 2014.
Laura Dawson for Lanson commented:
“This is a unique opportunity to taste six Champagnes from the Maison Lanson range… our cuvées have been thoughtfully paired with each course to showcase the versatility of Champagne and elevate each one.”
Designed with both luxury and comfort in mind, the experience includes private tables for 2–10 guests, a complimentary bar featuring fine wines, premium spirits and soft drinks, full access to the County Stand, and thoughtful raceday touches such as a racecard, tipster insight and tote betting couriers serving directly to the table.
Bringing together the very best of Yorkshire hospitality and world-class racing, this collaboration offers racegoers an unforgettable way to experience the sport.
