Hosting the biggest student raceday in the UK explained

York Racecourse is delighted to confirm that it is set to host the UK’s largest ever student raceday, on Saturday 10 October.

Detailed planning has gone into making the afternoon enjoyable for both the students and regular racegoers.

Some 9,000 students from York, Leeds, Sheffield & Hull are set to experience a York raceday from their own special area of the course, courtesy of a continuing partnership with the Invades organisation led by Dom Matchem.

Located in the centre of the Knavesmire venue, the student event will have a festival vibe, a colourful Big Top will be home to a DJ between the races, as well as an afterparty following the final race of the season (5.07pm).

Students will be able to hear and feel the thunder of hooves for the seven races, as their area includes access right up the rails.

The final day of the York season has seen an Invades event for the last four years which means there is experience of the food, drinks and toilet provision that is required to deliver a welcome to the sport.

Dedicated to students who have booked direct through Invades, there is no access to this area for general racegoers.

In the same regard an area of Clocktower Enclosure, at its northern end has been reserved for the sole use of regular Clocktower Enclosure racegoers. As well as its own space, it includes all the elements that are familiar; access to the rails, accessible viewing platform, dedicated food outlets, allocated toilets, the ability to buy a drink and place a bet.

With seven races offering £330,000 in total prize money, it promises to be a fine finale.
