Equine Welfare at York
At York Racecourse, equine welfare remains a top priority throughout the season, with additional care and planning during periods of hot weather to ensure horses are safe and comfortable.
When temperatures rise, raceday procedures are carefully adjusted in line with industry guidance to protect the wellbeing of all runners. Cooling areas, increased hydration opportunities, and enhanced veterinary monitoring. Officials and stable staff work closely together to assess conditions throughout the day, with extra attention given to pre and post race recovery.
