A maximum field of 20 will go to post for the 59th running of Europe's richest middle distance handicap, the John Smith's Cup at York.

Dash of Spice is the favourite to become the 8th Newmarket trained winner of the race in the last 9 years, but there is the customary strong challenge from Yorkshire stables, hoping to keep the big winners cheque in the county.

Karl Burke saddles Born to Be Alive, who returns in this race having had a near three month break, and he's been telling Mike Vince about the chances of Clifford Lee's mount landing the big prize.

Reaction - Graham Lee on his Sun Bets Jump Jockeys' Nunthorpe victory

Graham Lee has won the second running of the Sun Bets Jump Jockeys' Nunthorpe on Summer Music Saturday at York.

Lee, who has won both the Grand National and Gold Cup at Ascot stormed home on the favourite Fendale to deny Tom Scudamore on Tylery Wonder back to back wins in the race.

This was Lee's reaction to a popular win for the six year old, who is trained by Bryan Smart.

York Summer Music Saturday Preview - Nigel Tinkler

Jump Jockeys will swap their Marathons for their speedsters at York on saturday when 15 of them ride in the second Jump Jockeys Nunthorpe over the famous five furlongs on the Knavesmire.

Less than 2 months before the fastest sprinters on earth clash at the tracks big meeting, the jump riders get their chance.

Tom Scudamore is reunited with Tylery Wonder, on whom he won a year ago but his rivals are queuing up seeking revenge.

The field includes last years third Bashiba, trained locally by Nigel Tinkler and to be ridden by his nephew Andrew.

Nigel's hoping it could be their turn this time.

Sophie Dods wins the Queen Mother's Cup

20 year old Sophie Dods, who usually works as part of York's raceday team has ridden her first career winner in the most prestigious Ladies Race in the Calendar.

She booted home Mister Belverdere, part owned by her father Michael who also trained the four year old to a neck success over the Royal runner Pacify, and also won her weight in Champagne.
