York Crowned Racegoers Club Racecourse of the Year

York voted best racecourse for the third year running by members of the Official Club of British Racegoers

York has been voted the best racecourse in the country for the third year running by the members of the Racegoers Club, the official supporters club for British Racing fans. It is the ninth time York has been awarded the title.

William Derby, Chief Executive and Clerk of York Racecourse, said, “The Racegoers Club is a fantastic organisation which represents a membership who are committed followers of the sport with horseracing being both their hobby and passion. To be ranked as number one by some of the most knowledgeable visitors to Britain’s many great racecourses is a real honour. To retain the accolade of ‘Racecourse of the Year’ for three consecutive seasons is such a huge tribute to the hard work of so many that make racing at York such a special experience.  We are very much looking forward to an exciting year of racing ahead which includes the first ever £1million Sky Bet Ebor and the opening of our new Premier Racing Lounge - we hope racegoers will continue to enjoy the racing, atmosphere and experience of a raceday at York.  We shall, of course, be doing our very best to retain the crown when racing returns on Wednesday 15 May.”

The results saw 21 racecourses scoring over 4.5 out of 5 in any particular category, highlighting the hard work that racecourses have been putting into maximising customer experience.

The staff at York Racecourse received high praise from many members with one commenting: “The staff at York are the most welcoming and helpful on any racecourse. We went to three days of the Ebor Festival and each day was enhanced by the wonderful staff.”
