YORK 2021 SEASON DATES

The eighteen racedays currently set to form the 2021 season at York Racecourse have now been published by the British Horseracing Authority, as below.

The wider sport as well as York will remain flexible in response to the pandemic and the Government "roadmap"..

They follow a largely familiar pattern, commencing with the three day Dante Festival due to begin " behind closed doors" on Wednesday 12th May, with the four day Welcome to Yorkshire Ebor Festival offering the fastest, richest, oldest and most famous contests of the year on the Knavesmire between Wednesday 18th and Saturday 21st August.

Saturday racedays are always popular with Connections and punters, none more so than  the 62nd renewal of the John Smith’s Cup on Saturday 10th July.

In a change to recent years, Saturday 26th June will no longer be a York raceday, however Friday 24th September becomes a York date.

Each of the days will have its supporters, perhaps the music and racing excitements of July 23rd & 24th or the family atmosphere of the only Sunday on 5th September. The extra activities, beyond racing, on these days remain subject to confirmation in the light of further Government advice.

Given the current circumstances of the nation, admission for the 2021 season, will go sale to reflect the Government "roadmap" and attendant details. The twelve York racedays that sit within "step 4" (currently 21st June) are now available to book in advance. This means July, August, September and October racedays, including the Welcome to Yorkshire Ebor Festival.

Unfortunately,  the Dante Festival (12th-14th May) is under "step 2" guidance, so will operate "behind closed doors".

Three racedays ( May 22nd, 11th & 12th June) are under "step 3", these are not on sale, as more advice is required from Government over their operation.
