Both the Melrose Club Lounge and the Premier Racing Lounge will go on sale for 2020, with effect from 10am on 1st November.
The team at York Racecourse are proud of both offerings; the Premier Racing Lounge on the ground floor of the Melrose Stand, proved hugely popular in its inaugural season and returns for the new decade. Racegoers were able to reserve a specific seat and enjoy the premium feel of an area, with views towards both the finish and winner’s enclosure.
The Melrose Club, two floors higher in the same stand, is another concept, which we believe is unique in British racing. An informal lounge serving great locally sourced tapas and premium drinks with unrivalled views of the racing and Parade Ring.
Entering the new decade, we want to keep improving so learning from its success with the Premier Racing Lounge, for the 2020 season the ability to reserve a specific seat in the Melrose Club Lounge is being introduced. At the time of booking racegoers will be able to pre book actual seats meaning they can choose a location within the wider lounge.
In common with many venues, what are considered “the best seats”, so in this case those with the trackside windows will have a small premium to them, which may vary by day. It is worth noting that the majority of seats will only change in price next year by a few pounds, to broadly reflect inflationary pressures.
A consequence of the ability to book specific seats, is that, like most cinemas or theatres, it will not be possible to “orphan” seats; for example leaving a single seat on a sofa unreserved. So racegoers are asked to please consider their party size before booking.
It will still be possible to book over the telephone, 01904 620911, though this will mean the team allocating the seats, in consultation with the caller.
A final procedural change for 2020 will see cancellation terms standardised across the Racecourse, so Melrose Club Lounge will move to the same terms as The Premier Racing Lounge or Ebor & Voltigeur Restaurants. This means a 21 day full refund policy, after that date the refund will be only for the standard County Stand badge element of the price.
It is hoped the both Lounges will continue to find favour with racegoers.
