64th John Smith's Cup

Pride of America, at 18-1 has landed the 64th John Smiths Cup at York after one of the closest finishes in its long and distinguished history.

The six year old, trained by Amy Murphy at Newmarket, prevailed by the minimum margin of a nose from the 50-1 outsider Astro King.

It's the biggest win of his life for apprentice jockey Frederick Larson.

He spoke with Mike Vince trackside.

Copper Knight's seventh win on the Knavesmire

Copper Knight has become the most successful horse in modern times at York Racecourse by winning for the seventh time.

The 9 year old beat 17 rivals to land the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Handicap on a dream day for trainer Tim Easterby and an even more special one for jockey Sean Kirrane who celebrated his first ever winner at the track- and then went out to complete a double.

Tom Eaves on 64th John Smith's Cup

Top Northern rider Tom Eaves is hoping he can break his duck in one of the season's iconic handicaps when he rides Astro King in the 64th John Smith's Cup, Europe's richest middle distance handicap, at York on Saturday.

Eaves has not been able to match his record in Group 1's, particularly sprinters in races like this mile and a quarter showpiece, and he'll be on board Astro King, who finished fourth in the Hambleton Handicap on the Knavesmire in May, for the first time.

He's been speaking with Mike Vince ahead of the big race.

Jody Townend wins the Queen Mother's Cup

Jody Townend is celebrating one of the biggest wins of her career by winning Britain's most valuable and prestigious race for Lady Riders, the Queen Mother's Cup on York's big charity day.

The sister of Ireland's multiple champion jockey also wion her weight in champagne and now faces the dilemma of how to get six boxes of Ayala bubbles from the Knavesmire onto a plane and then home.

She spoke with Mike Vince trackside.
