World Cup at the Races

York Racecourse shares the excitement about the start of the FIFA World Cup and wants racegoers to be able to follow the action.

The live racing will continue to be shown on the main screens during the afternoons with dedicated televisions covering the action in all enclosures.

On Saturday evening, racegoers will be able to stay on and follow the England match on the giant screens. With a last racetime of 5.25pm on Saturday we expect many people will head home to follow the action from South Africa.

The totesport Betting shops will be pleased to take bets on the football.

PLEASE NOTE: The football is being shown as part of the raceday and so customers will need to have purchased admission to the raceday in order to watch the football.

The gates to all enclosures will be closed to new admissions after the last race on Saturday at 5.30pm.

For those planning to attend, please note the following information by day below:

Friday

The South Africa v Mexico match (3pm ko) from the football World Cup will be shown on  televisions in the Dante Suite and Rockingham Bar (Ebor Stand 2nd and ground floors in County Stand) and the Theakston bar. (southern end of Grandstand and Paddock)

Racegoers in Course Enclosure can follow the action on a television under the Clock Tower.

Hospitality guests can request that a channel is changed.

Saturday:

The England v USA match (ko 7.30pm) will be shown live after racing for racegoers only. Please note that some bars will close after racing and that ALL bars will be closed after half time in the football (8.30pm)

The South Korea v Greece (ko 12.30pm) and the Argentina v Nigeria match from the football World Cup (3pm ko)will be shown on  televisions in the Rockingham Bar (Ebor stand ground floor: County Stand) the Theakston bar (Southern end of Grandstand and Paddock)

Racegoers in Course Enclosure can follow the action on a television under the Clock Tower.
