Fahey and Hanagan take early championship lead
Miss Rachel King had the first win on the 40th Macmillan Charity Day on Desert Recluse in the Queen Mother's Cup for lady amatuer riders. Pol Roger were delighted to donate her weight in Pol Roger champagne as the winning rider. Desert Recluse's owners also took home the Queen Mother's Cup perpetual trophy.
Richard Fahey also extended his early lead in defending the Minister Jaguar Top Trainer championship with a win for Sir Reginald in the Leonard Sainer E.B.F Maiden Stakes. Paul Hanagan rode the horse to victory so extending his lead in defending the Living Yorkshire Top Jockey championship. The horse remembers the founder and driving force of the day for 38 years, the late Reg Griffin. It is owned by Jim McGrath who is the key organiser of the event.
Adrian Nicholls rode Vistoire de Lyphar to victory in the Reg Griffin Memorial Handicap. With the Middleham Park Racing XVII Syndicate delighted to win the feature race and the Reg Griffin Memorial Trophy.
