Fahey wins with a hat-trick.

Richard Fahey completes four years in a row as Minster Jaguar's leading trainer of the season with a hat-trick at York on the last day of the season. The highlight for the Musley Bank trainer was Kaldoun Kingdom's victory in the £40,000 Coral Sprint Trophy.

Richard Fahey landed the Minster Jaguar-sponsored prize in 2006 and 2007 with seven winners in each season before last year completing the hat-trick thanks to a tally of six victories over a truncated season on the Knavesmire.

Richard Fahey has surpassed his previous best annual total - and then some - at York in 2009 with 13 winners - six more than his nearest rival Saeed Bin Suroor.

Talking to BBC Radio York after his success, Richard Fahey said: "When I started training I went five years without a winner at York, I had about 16 seconds before I got a winner.

"For me, York is the best racecourse in England, winning here is everything."

He added: "We run a lot of horses here, the owners like coming here.

"Every horse I have is a York horse. It's very tough to win here and we've been very lucky in the last four years.

"Malton's a great place to train, we've our own gallops there at Musley Bank. It works well and the horses are happy there."
