Serious Attitude returns to sprinting in Cuisine de France Summer Stakes

SERIOUS ATTITUDE is set to hit the comeback trail this Friday, July 10, in the Group Three Cuisine de France Summer Stakes at York.

The Rae Guest-trained filly was unbeaten as a two-year-old, finishing last season with victory in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket.

She reappeared in the 1000 Guineas - for which she was the second favourite - but didn’t see out a mile on the day, fading into seventh.

Guest gave her a break after her tilt at Classic glory and she has been brought back with the six-furlong Group 3 at York firmly in mind.

The Newmarket trainer explained: “This is the first opportunity she has had to run without a Group 1 penalty - that was a big attraction.

“Hopefully, she does well on Friday and then we can plan a sprint campaign with her. She could have maybe three races between now and the end of the season and, while I’m not saying she will definitely stay in training next year, we think she would be better then.”

From her style of her running in the 1000 Guineas, it appears as if the return to six furlongs will suit Serious Attitude. She showed early speed on that occasion to suggest that sprinting is likely to be her forte.

Guest said: “In the Guineas, she was racing too keen early on and didn’t see the trip out. So, we thought we would drop her back to six furlongs.

“We gave her a bit of time off to get over the Guineas and then have been building up to this. She is fine and ready to go again. She did a nice bit of work last Wednesday, worked again on Saturday morning and is in good form.”

Overall, there is a cracking 22-strong entry for the race, including Look Busy, who won the Group 2 Temple Stakes at Haydock in May.

Last year’s Jaguar Cars Lowther Stakes winner Infamous Angel and Danehill Destiny, successful in the Listed Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock in the spring, are also among the entry. Another possible contender is recent course and distance scorer, Swiss Diva, who took the £100,000 Reg Griffin Memorial Trophy at the last York meeting.

The £65,000 Cuisine de Summer Stakes is the highlight of a six-race card, which is scheduled to get underway at 2.15pm
