Muir harbours Enroller dream for Emirates Yorkshire Cup

IMPRESSIVE John Porter Stakes winner Enroller will come under serious consideration for the Emirates Airline Yorkshire Cup at York on Friday, May 15.

The improving four-year-old looked like a top-class prospect when winning the Group 3 race at Newbury last week from runner-up Centennial and third home Tastahil.

“ York is a big possibility,” said trainer Willie Muir. “A lot will depend on the ground; he wouldn’t want it really firm.

“I think he’s a Group 1 horse and we want to step him up another level now, and the Emirates Airline Yorkshire Cup would fit nicely.

“He doesn’t know how to run a bad race and has really thrived from three to four years old. He’ll improve again for that run.

“He beat some decent horses at Newbury like Centennial and Royal And Regal, and we can’t wait to run him again – we’re dreaming he can become the stable’s first Group 1 winner.”

Tastahil is also a possible for the Group 2 Emirates Airline Yorkshire Cup, run over a mile and three-quarters.

“Tastahil ran a great race at Newbury and we see him as a real Cup horse, so the Yorkshire Cup certainly makes sense,” said Charlie Hills, assistant trainer to his father Barry. “It will depend on the ground though as he likes a bit of cut.”

The Emirates Airline Yorkshire Cup is the feature race on the final day of the three-day Dante festival which commences on Wednesday May 13 with the Tattersalls Musidora, a recognised Epsom Oaks trial, and is followed on the Thursday by the totesport.com Dante, the premier trial for the Epsom Derby.
