Derby favourite targets totesport.com Dante for reappearance.

Connections of Crowded House, the current Derby favourite, have decided to miss the stanjames.com 2000 Guineas in favour of the totesport.com Dante Stakes at York on Thursday May 14th.

The three-year-old colt, who was so impressive when winning the Group 1 Racing Post trophy at Doncaster, will firstly head for the mile-and-a-quarter contest on the Knavesmire, instead of Newmarket's one-mile Classic on May 2nd.

"We have thought long and hard about it, but we have come down on the side of the Dante," revealed trainer Brian Meehan.

The Rainbow Quest colt, won two of his four starts as a juvenile, aims to follow such brilliant horses as Authorized and Motivator who completed the treble of winning the Racing Post Trophy, Totesport.com Dante and Epsom Derby.

The totesport.com Dante is also a possible target for the unbeaten colt Free Agent. The Richard Hannon trained horse famously carried Her Majesty The Queen's silks to victory at Royal Ascot last year. He became the first royal winner at the royal meeting for ten years.

The totesport.com Dante is the centrepiece of York’s three-day Dante Festival. The festival commences on Wednesday 13th May with the Tattersalls Musidora, a recognised Epsom Oaks trial, and culminates with the Group 2 Emirates Airline Yorkshire Cup on the Friday.
