TOP JAPANESE FILLY MAY BE HEADING TO YORK
Multiple Japanese Grade 1 winner Daiwa Scarlet is reported to be heading to Europe this summer with all the Group 1 middle distance championships on her possible agenda including the Juddmonte International at York on Tuesday 19th August.
The filly who missed the Dubai Carnival due to a minor injury is now likely to visit Europe instead during the summer to compete at the highest level to add to her already big reputation.
Nick Smith, Ascot head of public relations was quoted in the Racing Post as saying “She is a serious racehorse and her owners are keen to race abroad. She could run in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes and the King George – or maybe the Juddmonte International and the Arc”.
The last Japanese horse to run in the Juddmonte was Zenno Rob Roy who came so close to landing the 2005 running. He was runner up in a finish of heads to the Italian champion Electrocutionist with Maraahel and Ace only heads and necks behind. Last year the international aspect of the race was provided by Asiatic Boy from South Africa who recently finished runner up in The Dubai World Cup.
